SLEEP MANAGEMENT
Ayurveda places great importance on maintaining a balanced lifestyle to promote health and
well-being, including managing sleep (Nidra). According to Ayurveda, proper sleep is one of the
three pillars of health, alongside diet (Ahara) and balanced living (Brahmacharya). Here are
some key principles and practices for sleep management in Ayurveda:
Ayurvedic Perspective on Sleep
1. Doshas and Sleep:
o Kapha Dosha: Dominates in the evening, promoting relaxation and preparation
for sleep.
o Pitta Dosha: Active in the night, influencing metabolism and digestion.
o Vata Dosha: Governs early morning hours and can lead to restlessness if
imbalanced.
2. Sleep as Rejuvenation: Ayurveda views sleep as a natural way for the body and mind to
rejuvenate. Poor sleep disrupts the balance of doshas and can lead to various health
issues.
3. Imbalances and Sleep Disorders:
o Vata imbalance: Associated with insomnia or light sleep.
o Pitta imbalance: Leads to interrupted sleep or difficulty falling asleep.
o Kapha imbalance: May cause excessive sleepiness or lethargy.

system and promote relaxation.

DIGESTIVE DISORDERS
Ayurveda heals digestive disorders using gentle natural remedies. Constitutional fire is responsible for digestion. It is availability of fire that determines the production of gastric juices: hydrochloric acid, bile, enzymes, in short the caustic chemicals that are required for the breakdown of food and its conversion into micro nutrients that can be assimilated by the body and bulk matter that needs to be eliminated. Whenever this fire is weak, there is no enough digestive power to metabolize food.
What this means is that an individual could be on what might be touted as the world’s most perfect diet and still not be able to digest the food. According to Ayurveda, all creation arises out of five great elements known as Panchamahabhutas(akash, vaayu, jala, agni, &pruthvi).
Agni, the pivotal mahabhuta in this chain of creation is the capacity to digest and transform, there are four possible states of agni, based on the dominant dohas reflecting our constitutional makeup and its vagrancies. These are sama (balanced metabolism), vishama (irregular metabolism), tikshna (hypermetabolism) and manda (slow metabolism).
Manifestation of Digestive Problems
These developments of the different states of digestion are further reflected in deeper changes as the effects move steadily into our physical and psychological being. Vishama agni or irregular digestion eventually leads to dry skin, cracking joints, lower back pain and insomnia. Emotionally, the predictable results include anxiety, insecurity, fear and other neurological disorders. Tikshna agni or sharp digestion can cause inflammatory conditions especially of the skin; problems in the liver, nausea and vomiting. The individual thus affected becomes judgmental and critical, and carries feelings of hate, envy and anger. Manda agni or slow digestion leads eventually to lethargy, excessive sleep, cold clammy skin and general weakness of the body. Mentally, there can be greed, attachment and possessiveness.
The net result of any of these three states of agni is the build up of a sticky, foul substance called ama. Indicated by lethargy, a coated tongue and foul breath, this undigested substance can be recognized today as high cholesterol, late onset diabetes & autoimmune diseases. Improper agni and other vitiated dosha(bio-energies)leads to acute constipation, gastritis, acid peptic disease, IBS(irritable bowel syndrome), reflux gastritis and/or diarrhea etc other ailments. In Ayurvedic thinking all diseased states arise as a result of ama, whether physical or mental and all ama is the result of an improperly functioning agni. In fact the key to a healthy is agni which canbe maintained by the intake of easily digested, fresh, lightly cooked, compatible foods eaten consciously at the appropriate times.
The ideal state of agni, that which is known as sama agni, is achieved by the balancing of the doshas. When agni is in equilibrium it produces a healthy metabolism. People with a healthy metabolism are blessed with strong constitutions where digestion, absorption and elimination are regular. This leads to good health, longevity and a strong immune system. People with sama agni are characterized by a calm, loving demeanor and great clarity of mind.

LIFE STYLE DISORDERS
The incidence of lifestyle diseases like Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus, Dyslipidemia, Thyroid Dysfunction and overweight/Obesity associated with cardiovascular diseases is high on the rise.
Basically, a particular lifestyle of person is a cumulative product of his/her physical capacity co-ordinated with psychological functioning, displayed in the form of habits, behaviour, dietary and living pattern based on his own training sought from childhood, and mimicries he gained from his immediate companions including parents, siblings, peers, etc. Thus, it involves a pure psychological and innate control over the physical and sensory activities. When this initiation, control, and co-ordination are disturbed, it leads to the derangement of lifestyle and results in any lifestyle disorder
In the management of lifestyle diseases, Ayurveda offers various regimens including Dinacharya(daily regimen), Ritucharya (seasonal regimen), Panchakarma (five detoxification and bio-purification therapies), and Rasayana (rejuvenation) therapies. The Sadvritta (ideal routines) and Aachara Rasayana (code of conduct) are utmost important to maintain a healthy and happy psychological perspective. The inclusive utilization of all these treatment modalities has a great effect on lifestyle disorders. Moreover, the application of organ-specific Rasayana herbs also provides enough scope not only for prevention of disease, but also for the promotion of health and cure of disease too.
AYURYOG offers specific panchkarma therapies & rasayana medicaton to the particular disease. Focus is not just on disease but to bring balance in whole body & mind.

FEVER MANAGEMENT
Fever manifests in two ways, from our external environment (infectious disease or trauma) and our internal environment (morbid dosa/s). Fever is both acute and chronic, and both conditions can occur from either an external or internal cause. Ayurveda recognizes there are early subtle signs before the onset of fever, unusual taste in mouth low appetite, usual sleep, malaise, mental agitation, aversion to cold heat etc. These early signs may continue through the course of the fever. These early signs or symptoms occur according to the person’s predisposition and the morbid dosa/s involved
When acute fever symptoms arise, Ayurveda recommends a light fasting diet. It is known that fever originates in the stomach, by overeating ama develops and will increase fever. Taking herbal Kashayams, Kwathams or Arishtams are useful for early symptoms of fever, along with shodhana or shamana therapies, fumigation, herbal smoke therapy, herbal eyewash, and light soup diet.
In all types of chronic fever, the internal use of ghritam is recommended. Ghrita pacifies vata by its unctuousness, pitta by its coldness, and kapha when combined with kapha pacifying herbs. Ghrita is useful, like a fire subsides with water. As water is sprinkled on burning houses to douse the fire, ghee is administered to manage chronic fever.

BOOSTING IMMUNITY
Immunity is a concept explained in Ayurveda under Bala or the concept of strength, Vyadhi Kshamathwa or the concept of resistance to illness development and Ojas or the concept of supreme resilience. The concept of Bala explains the ability of the system to repair and nourish itself and be effective in disease prevention, whereas Vyadhi Kshamatwa is the ability of the immune system to fight against the disease-causing pathogens. While former is a product of the overall balance of body functions, tissues, digestion, and elimination, the latter is purely denoting the function of our immune system and recovery after coming in contact with pathogenic organisms.
The preventive aspect of our immunity function is majorly related to our digestive system. Balanced doshas or bio-energies, through cleansing, are also essential for proper resistance to illness Ojas is considered as the essence of the food we consume, and a healthy level of Ojas indicates proper tissue nourishment. The function of Ojas is not just explained as resistance to disease but it is resilience to any form of unfavorable physical, mental or environmental change which would normally create an imbalance, leading to disease, but is otherwise dealt with effectively due to the presence of Ojas.
To increase your immunity one need to have
Well balanced diet based on one’s own prakruti,
Regular yoga/excercise practice,
proper deep sleep, avoidance of alcohol, smoking
Regular detox plans like fasting, or a proper panchakarma cleanse, once a year,
